Australian Champion Keahi de Aboitiz Visits Japan

Australian Champion KEAHI de ABOITIZ recently took part in a local wave and freestyle contest in Japan. Due to a nearby typhoon, he scored some great waves with a 16-20 knots sideshore wind.  Spectators were treated to Keahi’s huge boosts and pro surf style.

The wave category gave Keahi an opportunity to battle against Taka, a professional windsurfer with local knowledge and experience.  But the very talented young Australian champ ripped and was awarded the title. Keahi also rose up the ladder in the freestyle category all the way to the final heat. His final heat was against Hiro, a 15 year old local prodigy.  This heat was another battle with Keahi again pulling off the win. For more photos, click here.

Pete Visits Japan

Cabrinha held the first dealer meeting in Japan this past June in Haimurubushi, a beautiful resort hotel in Kohama Island in the Ishigaki Island Group near Okinawa.  The timing of the meeting was perfect for the location  as the rainy season had just finished and there was plenty of sunshine and wind. Dealers attended from all over Japan to listen to Pete’s presentation as well as test ride on all the 2010 products.  The second day was especially epic, with a constant 20 knots wind blowing across the crystal clear warm water.  The high level riding of the dealers showed off kiteboarding at its best to guests of the resort and local kiteboarders. We also had a speed trial competition and Mr. Ogawa, owner of Hello Surf, won the prize. Thanks to all the dealers who attended and we hope this meeting helps the growth of kiteboarding in Japan.

The Nomad starts its journey

Jesse Richman and Cameron Dietrich along with French riders Victor Hays, Matthieu Judic, and Alex Campet traveled through France in an RV this past June in search of wind and waves. Click her for a preview of Benoit Paillard's film.
